My apologies to Mr. Baltzersen and Bolingbroke. It appears that both of you posted the same message within three minutes of each other, so I ended up deleting one of the double posts.
The media played Her Majesty's Christmas message up as being particularly sombre; I certainly didn't see it that way, and can only think that it is because so few have the attention span beyond the first 45 seconds of the address. If anything, it was affirming and, on the cusp of the New Year, I hope to keep it mind that it is better to serve than to be served. That's certainly something I have lost sight of whilst living the easy life in China.
