Blair takes on the media whore

And the whore bites back with a vengeance. I regret saying that on this dignified forum, but how else are we to refer to what Christopher Hitchens called today the "systematic, massified cretinization of the major media"? Turn on the television these days and everything is sensationlised and irreverent jaw flapping rubbish, from the dirtiest little tabloid to the most respectable of outlets like CNN. Almost all are rags nowadays.

But Blair and (especially) Cameron are part of the problem - why? - because they are in fact part of the media, not separate from it. As professional spin doctors they make it their business to feed and manipulate the "feral beast"; journalists and politicians are now like conjoined twins in this, both tasked with getting the message out, both acting the part of pundits according to their own twisted version of the truth.

Politicians need to immediately divorce themselves from this game, and concentrate their talents on sound public policy, before the mass media cultural revolution wreaks total havoc on our political institutions. And in the name of the Lord, allow the monarchy to reinstitute the Palace code of silence before it gets eaten alive by the republican media whore, with their salacious quest for every sordid and lurid detail.

Trouble is Palmerston is that large sections of the masses quite like "sensationalised and irreverent jaw flapping rubbish". Check out those viewing figures. This also explains why lots of irreverent jaw flappers work in the media and why lots of irreverent jaw flappers get elected by using it. Thankfully the new media can use the old media and put it in its place. Something The Monarchist does quite handsomely every day - monarchist news without tittle-tattle and guff.
