For Queen and Cricket
Monarchist of the Month: “The monarchy stands for everything that makes me proud to be English...I listen to all these republicans...If it was down to me I'd hang 'em! I honestly would. It's a traitor's game for me.” - Cricket legend Ian Botham.
Arise, Sir Beefy: Sir Ian collecting his knighthood on 10 October 2007 from the Queen for services to Charity and to Cricket. Nicknamed Beefy, Botham finished his career as England's leading Test wicket-taker with 383 victims and over 5,000 Test runs. The 51-year-old former all-rounder remarked: "I've had some great moments in sport and other walks of life but nothing matches this."
Looking back over his cricketing career, the sportsman-turned-commentator said: "The highlight has to be any time we beat Australia particularly when we beat them in Australia, but today puts that all into insignificance when you get an achievement like this."
Asked if he has been addressed as Sir Beefy yet, he added: "No I haven't, but I have been called Sir Loin of Beef." Speaking of which, note that he is not flanked by Beefeaters in the photo above. They are Yeoman of the Guard, which is not to be confused with Yeoman Warders, who are the real Beefeaters. It's all rather confusing, I know.

Sir Ian is a true British hero.
He be admired throughout this Realm and Commonwealth and, even though his own life be full of "ups and downs", he still be smiling and spreading hope, happiness and pleasure to those less fortunate.
Note also and note it well.
He saith: "I listen to all these republicans."
He has my sympathy.
