You're not having any more luck than I did. Are we missing something or is this a Blogger issue? As for the broadcast itself, which I saw the old fashioned way, I was struck by the possibility of how her comments will be seen in 50 years. Will they seem as "radical" as her first broadcast in 1957?

Merry Christmas!

Sir,

If the broadcast was in 1957, and there have been broadcasts every Christmas since, wouldn't the 2007 broadcast be the 51st?

If the first broadcast was in 1957, that is...

50 years of broadcasting the Christmas message through the television medium, but I suppose that would indeed make it the 51st broadcast. In fact, that's not even correct, as she first delivered the Christmas message by radio in 1952, which is a form of broadcasting. So I totally bungled the title, JKB, but it was late, and I was full of Christmas cheer!

Kipling, I believe the monarchy wanted it's Royal Channel to be unimbeddable in other sites. A very smart thing for Buckingham Palace to do. You see the traffic it's generating!

No hard feelings. We wouldn't want our host not to be full of Christmas cheer. :-)

BTW, where's that White House YouTube channel? Republicans repeatedly claim that monarchies belong in the past, whereas republics do not. Where is that Oval Office broadcast via YouTube?

This one wouldn't be the 51st, as in whatever year Royal Family was broadcast, there wasn't one.

In any event, I decided to change it to reflect the time period instead.

It is the 50th televised broadcast as 1969 was not delivered.

I thought the Queen's christmas message was very short this year. Did anyone else notice that?

Verbally it was shorter - more of its time was taken up with video footage than in the 1957 version - but both clock in at around the same, I think. 7 or so mins.

Gentlemen,

If anyone would like to debunk an Italian anti-monarchist apparently annoyed at the new channel, please feel free to do so.

I have already done so. Perhaps some with not so paleo views would like to comment. Support of my paleo views are of course also welcome.

Please find the thread here.

Thanks.
