A Couple with Hearts of Oak
Couple receives a record three congratulatory messages from The Queen
Should my beloved wife be up to the task, one of my goals in life is to make it to my Granite Wedding Anniversary, mainly because no couple has ever achieved 90 years of continuous matrimony and because such a feat is beyond the grasp of present generations who find it taxing to get past Paper. Standing sturdy opposite the digital divorce of Britney Spears -- who text messaged her separation to hubby -- is the longest marriage on record of 86 years, accomplished by Sir Temulji Bhicaji Narima and Lady Narima, who lived in India and were married from 1853 to 1940.
Very few in fact make it to their Oak Wedding Anniversary, but here above Frank and Anita Milford celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary in Warwick Park Retirement Home in Plymouth yesterday. The anniversary makes them the longest married couple in Britain. They also both mark their 100th birthdays this year, and will become the only couple ever to receive three congratulatory messages from The Queen in one year. Hearts of Oak indeed.
