Arctic Sovereignty

Foreigners should keep their grubby paws off the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. It's sovereign territory that legally belongs to the Queen in Right of Canada. Read the names of some of the islands: King William Island, Prince of Wales Island, Prince Patrick Island, Victoria Island...does that sound Russian, American or Danish to you? Prime Minister Harper is making the right noises about keeping it that way, of building a northern patrol fleet and digging a permanent deep water naval port at the opening of the Northwest Passage. And it's getting a lot of international press.

By the way, I know this Admiral. I served with him when he was a lowly Lieutenant-Commander during the First Gulf War. Rear-Admiral Girard is now Commander of Maritime Forces Pacific. I guess it's been that long.

Looking good, gents. Ready Aye Ready.
